On midterms and politics @ 9:34 AM

Peak: This week because it's my first paid Fall Break, as I MENTIONED earlier this week.
Pit: The implementation of ASU's decision to have midterms for each 1L so they can be better prepared for finals week.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I think it's great that Garrison gets a chance to know what law school exams look like before he takes a final at the end of the semester and receives his grade. Much better to know how things will be phrased and what the time crunch/constraint really feels like. I just wish that it wasn't this week.

Oh, well. I've found things to keep my occupied, like getting all of my homework finished for the term while he's at the library until 11:30 each night. It's just not the best experience when you're home alone all week anyway, and then you're really alone because your hubby is making late nights even later than before. Only two more days!
This is hubby after his first law school exam. Either delightfully finished or shell shocked. Either way, it's a smile and I love that man's smile. I happened to be in the area because I finally had some time for me which allowed me to go to a doctor for a check-up, so I stopped by Tempe on my way home to see that awesome hubby of mine and to return a pair of pants to the Gap. Once hubby got out of his test it was grub time and I was so pumped to eat fistful of chips and salsa! Macyo's was the plan then take hubby back to the library and see him at midnight when he got home from the light rail.

THEN...
Garrison received a text about a free Jimmy Eat World concert that Bill Clinton would be speaking at. YES, PLEASE!!! We jumped on our phones, filled out the survey and registered ourselves to attend. But we didn't actually have the tickets yet, so we decided to leave and go get them before taking Garrison back to the law building to study for a bit. We got there in the knick of time, or so we thought. They had tickets, we were filling out forms and then they said, "Sorry, we actually don't have anymore tickets. You don't have to fill those out, we'll shred them for you." WHA?! No way! We missed seeing Bill Clinton by mere minutes?! It was too much of a let down, but also something that I could be okay with because we really had only found out about the event 20 minutes prior to almost getting tickets.

So, we started to leave, we were out the door and on the sidewalk headed for our car when we heard, "HEY! COME BACK!!!" To which I did a 180 turn and walked ran back into the office only to hear, "We found 13 tickets, how many do you need for your group? Only one per person." I said, "Two, please. One for my husband here and one for me." They handed us back the form and in about 15 seconds I was done and handed it to her. There were about 15 people in the room, wanting 13 tickets, it was a race to finish the paperwork first. I waited for Garrison after I handed mine in and it was the longest 15 second wait of my life. I kept thinking, "please finish writing already!" He did. He received his ticket. We left. Two tickets in hand. Best feeling EVER.

Obviously, with luck like that there was no way I'd allow us to be behind 1800 other people attending the event. We parked on the grass across from the fields were I used to play lacrosse with the ASU girls (back before I broke my leg, circa 2009) and ran to get in line. I started talking with one of the event coordinators and he said I could go around the ropes (obviously with Garrison) and start heading in to the event. BOOM! We easily jumped about 1000 people in line and got to be about 50 people away from the stage. It was a dream. Then Jimmy Eat World came out and I felt my 17 year old heart start pumping with excitement, I love that about music. But THEN the Big Dog Bill Clinton himself came out on the stage. I was so eager with anticipation. It was incredible. He was speaking on behalf of one the men running for Congress (his story is one for another day) and yet it felt like he was just talking to me, about me, so awesome! There were some great lines from the evening that I've left below. I never thought I'd care about politics and I've never been one to get excited about seeing "celebrity" types, but to be in the presence of a man that led our country during one of the greatest economical times of our day, regardless of your beliefs, is really something that takes you aback. It was a wonderful experience that I will not soon forget. Thank you law school friends/fate for allowing the Burton's to attend such a remarkable event.
