HERE IT IS!!!
Years of hard work. Countless books and pages read and interpreted. Endless letters typed on keyboards across the country. Hours of lectures endured and enjoyed. One piece of paper to sum it up.
When I told my Dad I was officially graduated this year with a Bachelors of English (literature) and a minor in Communication Disorders (sidenote: I really wish they would put the minor on there too, I worked hard for that piece of paper and for that minor!) he said, "Congratulations! I'm happy for you to be finished. Guess you and Garrison stole those degrees from BYU?" I was slightly confused but what he meant was, we were transfer students. We showed up to BYU for two years straight and walked out with degrees and acceptance to ASU Law. It was a bit more work than that, but from the outside it does seem as though we stole degrees from BYU.
I'm so excited to have this piece of paper to display proudly in our home (this one will actually hang in my classroom and the nice one is currently on it's way, in a beautiful frame too). This is a proud achievement for me. My dad was the first one to graduate from college and I'm the first one to carry on his tradition. It's a tremendous feeling of accomplishment and I hope to someday feel as proud as my dad, when my kids send me a picture like this saying, "I DID IT!" It feels good to say you're done.
