LP Sunday @ 3:02 PM
Yesterday was a big day for us. We said our final farewells to Salt Lake City, and did so in a fitting fashion. All of that can be absorbed here. We did all that we thought we should, and then some, but I think the thing we enjoyed to the fullest was our final visit to Randy's Record store. We first stumbled across this gem when we went to Salt Lake after Garrison searched for a record store when we got back from the east following our Christmas adventures. It was love at first sight for Garrison. He's gone back at least six other times and Saturday was the final time for us, while living here in Utah.
We had planned to spend some time there following my facial, but we hadn't planned on my facial taking over an hour and a half. On my behalf, it was a heavenly hour and a half well spent, but I can't speak for the hubby that sat in the car reading while I was pampered. We drove to Randy's as fast as we could and looked around for a bit finding a few goodies but nothing that we wanted to break the bank over. Then we heard about their $1 LP sale. We were SO pumped for it. Randy's only has a $1 LP sale three times a year. What are the chances of showing up the Saturday he's doing 1 of 3 that year?!
SCORE! When we got to the sale there were boxes of records EVERYWHERE. We ended up going through most of them but toward the end I was getting sick to my stomach from hunger and my hand was cramping up from looking through boxes of vinyls. My heart ached that Garrison didn't know about the sale. He would've happily spent two hours looking through records, purchasing a few, holding a few and picking me up then going pack on the prowl for another two hours, but he didn't get the luxury of knowing beforehand. Which might've been a blessing. We found some awesome records for a dollar and picked up a few that might not be as "awesome" to some, but for a buck, we couldn't pass them up. I had a lot of fun going through records with Garrison and finding the gems we'd both enjoy. I wish I hadn't been so hungry or we could've stayed an extra 20 minutes.
We didn't care. We were happy to have found out about the sale when we did and even more thrilled to have found the records we did. I was also very happy because on Saturday I purchased my first vinyl for myself, Jack Johnson On and On. I'm not much of music buff. I enjoy music very very much, but I'm not into it like I once was, and for me, Jack is the epitome of relaxation. Put that on vinyl and you've got a match made in heaven.
Today was our LP day and that made our second to last Sunday in Provo even more enjoyable than the 80 degree, sunny day that we were already blessed with. Add the solar eclipse and great tunes and you've got a once in a lifetime (of a young couple) Sunday. What bliss. Happy Sunday!
