spring fling @ 6:03 PM
To recap my spring break thus far I've accomplished few things I'd care to take note of, however, eating cupcakes from the Sweet Tooth Fairy is definitely one that I'd love to remember.
See, what had happened was, I got addicted to watching the Food Network on Tuesday evenings from about 8pm to roughly 10pm (when Garrison is finished work and when I usually need to pick him up, more on that later...) and it just so happens that the Food Network is generous enough with their reruns to play the previous Sundays Cupcake Wars on Tuesday evenings. Everything seems okay, right? Well, I kind of get into shows that involve food, I can't cook so I think I just live vicariously through these chefs/bakers with impeccable skills and just pretend I have their abilities--I'm aware it's a complex, but I also have zero intentions to fix it. So, the only reasonable conclusion to these facts is that I become engrossed with the Cupcake Wars outcome to the extent of watching it all the way until 10pm and THEN I leave to pick up my husband from his shift that ends at 10pm. That's an issue, I'm totally aware of it, and willing to admit it, but if I'm going to invest a full 50 minutes of my time into a show that's really only 40 minutes long when you cut out the commercials, doesn't it make sense to see who the winner really is? I think so, and that's why I've left my husband waiting for me after his shift has ended so I can find out who wins. Though I've been aware of this issue, hubby has only recently been made aware--maybe because he was waiting for me for a few weeks at 10pm? This called for an intervention.
The only choices were: a.) not to watch Cupcake Wars anymore and actually spend my time doing something worthwhile at 9pm (ha!) or b.) watch the episodes when they air on Sunday evenings so I don't have a desire to watch the show when it comes on that Tuesday evening because I've already seen it. Naturally I chose option B and I haven't looked back (granted it's only been one week). This past Sunday, I found watched--in not so real time--the owner of Sweet Tooth Fairy introduce herself and her shop as a contestant on Cupcake Wars. HOLY WHAT?! I literally sat up straight and began to seriously watch the show for the next 55 minutes. I had never had the chance to have eaten a cupcake from any of the owners on that show before and now a shop from Utah was on national television and the shop is literally 10 minutes from my house and I absolutely LOVE their cupcakes and the owner is on tv. WOW. I'm a nerd. But I was stoked. I found myself cheering for her and when Garrison realized where she was from and that she was the owner of the shop that makes the cupcakes he so loves, he started watching and cheering for her too. Long story short, she won. Awesome!
So, this wonderfully narrated tale was just a long winded way of saying that when I wasn't feeling very well and to celebrate getting into ASU and the last day of school, Garrison got us cupcakes to celebrate and that little pink cutie on the bottom right, yeah that bad boy won cupcake wars on the Sunday night airing of Cupcake Wars. NBD.
