remember when...? @ 2:37 PM

Sometimes I find myself irritated by the constant bombardment of comments that my kids shamelessly toss at me, without a "heads up," and I've tried to get better at it, so instead of getting upset that I'm getting interrupted for the umpteenth time (because really, telling them they've interrupted me, "yet again," truly means nothing to them) I've decided that it's good to have a mini-break to tell what's going on in our heads. Seriously, who doesn't need a minute session to just tell something that's trapped inside that brain? I know I do, and apparently, so do my kids.

Today, however, was one I hope to remember for a while (especially when we move to Arizona and it's 100 degrees on a good day). One of my students said, "Mrs. Burton, remember when last night there was wind and it was really loud and it sounded like someone was going to break the roof at my house? There was a big storm. Now it's cold outside." I had to laugh as I thought to myself, yes I do remember that...however I can't speak for what it was like at your home, though it felt the same at our home. Then I remembered how disappointed I was when I left this morning for work and was chilly instead of just comfortable without a jacket. Pretty silly if you ask me. Utah has blessed us with nothing short of incredibly beautiful weather this year. I used to curse Utah for it's lack of "spring" weather and for the plethora of snow days that never resulted in "real" snow days. However, this year we have had such a long spring that I hesitate having excitement about moving to Arizona in 34 days. I'm certain I'll find myself hoping for a Utah summer evening multiple times this summer. But, I'm excited for the days that lie ahead. We feel so blessed to have the opportunity to move to Arizona and are thrilled at the prospect but we can't deny that we aren't feeling our heartstrings bracing for the monumental tug that will happen in the coming weeks, as we pack up the only home we've known and move to our new one.

I'm grateful for our life in Utah and the memories we've made here and I'm grateful for the life and memories that we'll make in Arizona.

34 Days!!!
