spinning wheels @ 7:45 AM

This semester, along with my regular schedule of classes for grad school, I'm taking a spinning class to help me get into cycling shape (the shape I should already be in because we just experienced a beautiful summer but I was too sick to really enjoy...yeah). I figured this class would kick my butt...I guess I just didn't think I'd be able to retaliate.

Last week I did a measly 8.9 in 40.* I nearly fell off my bike from an asthma attack (no joke, thank you rescue inhaler) and walked to my car with wobbly legs. It took an entire 32 oz of muscle milk (gag me please) and a 30 minute break on the couch for my body to feel like it could handle moving again. Pathetic.

Today I rode 11 miles in 30.** I know I'm riding on a stationary bike and I know that it's inside with fans, music, and an instructor telling me I can do it--but I did it and I didn't die (or think I was going to). Maybe it was that rice dinner from last night--giving me crazy carb energy, or that bubble bath I took this morning (to shave because I've been too lazy to shave recently). Whatever it was, I'm grateful for the endurance. I'm hoping this class will get me ready to kick the hubbs but one day in a race (I just need to win once) if nothing else I'm going to be in killer shape by the end of it. Hooray!!!

*Though it may not seem like a lot my average cadence (the number of rotations the wheel makes in a minute) was an impressive 95+ the entire 40 minute ride (give or take with the speed intervals).
**Average cadence was in the 100-105 region consistently (with the exception of the climbs which were in the upper 80's and mid 90's).
